I don't see whats so scandalous about this

Probably at least half of America's "upper class" have a slave owner ancestor...especially down south.

Heck, even most (if not all) black americans ourselves descend from slave owners somewhere down the line (via rape)

The 'scandal' it would seem, has to do with gates compromising his so-called 'scholarly integrity' in looking to
omit information regarding affleck's ancestors who were slave owners.

Yes, I regret the mistake the one guy made-- (Ben Affleck),-- but that hardly places him in the category of the whites ol so loved' war hero, whose family members did profit from our enslaved africans unpaid labors......

If he was/is/etc. misrepresenting his family's involvement, back during the Civil Rights movement, then his credibility is being challenged, etc.
