Ben Affleck insisted on censoring the fact that one of his ancestors owned slaves from PBS show
“Finding Your Roots,” the Sony email hack has revealed.

In a hacked Sony email from July 22, 2014, now available on WikiLeaks, the show’s host, Henry
Louis Gates Jr., writes to Sony USA chief Michael Lynton asking for advice: “One of our guests has
asked us to edit out something about one of his ancestors–the fact that he owned slaves. Now, four or
five of our guests this season descend from slave owners, including Ken Burns. We’ve never had
anyone ever try to censor or edit what we found. He’s a megastar. What do we do?”

Skip Gates and Sony Exposed by Wikileaks

Instead of upholding professional integrity and the ethics espoused by PBS, Gates emailed his friend Michael Lynton,
CEO of Sony, to ask for his advice. Lynton has no connection with the Gates program but he is a wealthy, influential
man and thus important to someone who calls himself “an intellectual entrepreneur.” Of course, no one becomes
a CEO by being ethical. It isn’t surprising that he advised censorship or that Gates and PBS hypocritically went along.

How does Gates, crowned as the go-to guy on black history, know what the Affleck ancestor did or didn’t do?”
It is telling that Gates chose not to take the underhanded route on his own. Instead he felt the need to tell Lynton that he was siding
with the white man whose slave holding ancestor he deemed to be not so bad. “And he wasn't even a bad guy. We don't demonize
him at all.” How does Gates, crowned as the go-to guy on black history, know what the Affleck ancestor did or didn’t do? We do know
that he is ready to absolve any and every evil perpetrated against black people if it helps him to curry favor with rich white people.

I was gonna post this story when it first came out, but I decided against it.

I am no fan of either of them anyway.

Interesting how gates finds it difficult to write on affleck's family's historic involvement
with slavery, yet when it comes to afrikan continentals and the role they played in 'the trade',
    he has no hesitation.

It was messing with his conscience, this thing with affleck that he felt the need
to consult sony's ceo, linton, about whether or not he should omit that part in
    his documentary.

Ben Affleck Was Wrong, But Henry Louis Gates Made It Worse

Helping the Hollywood star hide a slaveholding ancestor was truly shameful

EXCLUSIVE: Now Ben Affleck's MOM reveals mistakes in documentary that censored star's family's slave-owning past as she says she did NOT take part in Freedom Summer or Freedom Rides
    • PBS Finding Your Roots show censored Ben Affleck's family history of slave ownership, it was revealed last week
    • It said his mother took part in Freedom Summer of 1964, campaigning for civil rights and host called her a Freedom Rider
    • But she tells Daily Mail Online she is 'embarrassed' to be called Freedom Rider because 'I wasn't as good as they were'
    • And she says she went to South a year later than program's host, revered Harvard history professor Henry Louis Gates Jr claimed on show
    • PBS is reviewing entire show after first Daily Mail Online revelation of censorship and is no longer speaking for Prof Gates
    • Publicly-funded broadcaster dropped claim Mrs Affleck was 'Freedom Rider' from its website after Daily Mail Online exposed the error

I don't see whats so scandalous about this

Probably at least half of America's "upper class" have a slave owner ancestor...especially down south.

Heck, even most (if not all) black americans ourselves descend from slave owners somewhere down the line (via rape)
