    "WHY?"

    Why
When defense of our dignity lags
Do we never take a stand?

    Why
When the hope of our children's future drags
Do we never lend a hand?

    Why
While the banner of our ancestors' sacrifices snags
Do we only point fingers of blame?

    Why
While our fight for prosperity flags
Do we only seek to strengthen our "game?"

    Why
    By our actions,
Do we tarnish the labor of those before us
While down the road of education & empowerment,
Our people are missing the bus?

    Why
Do we not recognize the glory of our race
And that untold greatness is written in every face?

    WHY?

I just read this. I feel speechless. Yet at the same time there is a lot that I can say. this definitely was a good come back."untold greatness"! I wonder what could be said or what could be done for "us" to stop and take a glimpse of it. I wonder we are waiting for or if a man with persuasive speech with the likes of Martin or Malcom will lead us in the right direction (or get us back on course). We certainly have leaders among us with magnificent "oratorical skills"; we just don't have enough "postive" ones. We have plenty of people speaking for us but they are not the likes of Obama. Thanks for "vibing" with me.

    You're quite welcomed!...And thank YOU!

However, IMO, we don't need the likes of a Marcus, Martin or Malcolm anymore.

IMO, we don't need any particular/so-called "leader" to stand up and say, "Enough is enough."

We just need to say that in our own neighborhood/communities and put deed to word.

But, again, thank you for YOUR poem which reminded me of this one I wrote some time ago....YOUR "word" reminded me of my own inner musings.

l agree baby, line for line.... lMO, it will take 3 more generations before we actually become who we once were again. A generation from now, we will see how silly "entertainment" tv and artists have made our youth when education and empowerment is our destination.
