I regularly visit this forum and read your discussions although I do not always participate. I truly wish I had more time to engage. However, I decided to make some time and I wanted to start a thread where each of us could share words of empowerment with each other. Words, quotes, or lessons that have changed your perception on life, love, family, forgiveness, success, etc. It must be something that helped you to grow as an individual, as a woman, and even as a black woman. These can be words or lessons that your mother, grandmother, favorite author, etc. has taught you. If you have a quote of your own, passages from a book, a scripture, etc., please share it with us. I would like for this to be a thread that pierces this forum with a ray of light that is so divine, whomever reads it will grow or learn from the words of enlightenment and wisdom that is placed within it.

Let us, as black queens possessing a royal heritage and divine legacy share our wisdom and create a melting pot of love, enlightenment, wisdom, and divinity.

Quite naturally…I will start it off, in a separate post though. :grouphug:  :grouphug:

    My favorite of all time…

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small doesn't serve the world.
There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so
that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
    we unconsciously give other
people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
    our presence automatically liberates others."

Black women are the weavers of time, the rest of us are merely the thread that she uses to weave...

    Thought Provoking

It is knowledge that simplifies the complicated, so having said that, it is my responsibility to continue to seek Wisdom, Knowledge and most of all Understanding.

    PHENOMENAL WOMAN
    by Maya Angelou

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies
I'm not cute or built to suit a model's fashion size
But when I start to tell them
    They think I'm telling lies.
    I say
It's in the reach of my arms
    The span of my hips
    The stride of my steps
    The curl of my lips.
    I'm a woman
    Phenomenally
    Phenomenal woman
    That's me.

    I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please
    And to a man
    The fellows stand or
    Fall down on their knees
    Then they swarm around me
    A hive of honey bees.
    I say
It's the fire in my eyes
And the flash of my teeth
    The swing of my waist
And the joy in my feet.
    I'm a woman
    Phenomenally
    Phenomenal woman
    That's me.

    Men themselves have wondered
    What they see in me
    They try so much
    But they can't touch
    My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
    I say
It's in the arch of my back
    The sun of my smile
    The ride of my breasts
    The grace of my style.
    I'm a woman
    Phenomenally
    Phenomenal woman
    That's me.

    Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud
    When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
    I say
It's in the click of my heels
    The bend of my hair
    The palm of my hand
    The need for my care.
    'Cause I'm a woman
    Phenomenally
    Phenomenal woman
    That's me.

Here's one that struck me the first time I read it...

STAND UP! You have the power of Queens in your blood. The sacredness of the eagles in your bones.
The fierceness of warriors in your genes. The wisdom of the grandmothers is in the recesses of your mind,
accessible to you through the energy of spirit.

STAND UP! Take the responsibility for defining yourself and determining your own destiny.
Believe you have the power. Understand who you are.
Don't be so willing to take someone else’s word about what is best for you.

STAND UP! Celebrate the wisdom of life in your spirit.
Dare to do, to be, to reach and stretch beyond the boundaries of humanness
to the unlimited world of spirit. The Universe will BACK YOU UP.
The Father will HOLD YOU UP. The mother will KEEP YOU UP.
That means you have Holy Boldness!!

STAND UP and show it off.

    Deeply Hurt

You say he hurt you ?

You say he caused this potent pain you nurse so

    deeply....

This angst that's got you all weepy and shattered into a
million jagged shards like a broken glass.... seen

    deeply...

Torn apart like so many spent rags tossed asunder for rubbish

    deeply....

Sunk like a ship battled by fearsome storms savagely

But Sister, you have got to love yourself first

    deeply....

You need to know just how special, beautiful, intelligent and
worthy you are . This needs to be felt

    deeply... (mostly by you)

Before you can expect someone else to treasure you

    deeply...

Because you should be you know

    So dry your tears sweety

It's time for self renewal - time for you to learn to appreciate all the wonderfulness that's lying dormant - hidden inside

    So deeply...

Be "That Girl"... let the essence of your soul glow for all the world ( and mostly you) to see

    BRIGHTLY...

So that you will never again allow another on God's earth to defeat you almost completely and ever so

    deeply....
