Unlike the Charles Dickens novel "A Tale of Two Cities" between Paris & London this sordid tale involves factual accounts of active NYPD MOF's and retired NYPD/NYCTAPD/NYCHAPD MOF's, NYNJPAPD, NYSP and other active and retired PO's of Color in the Metro NY/NJ/CT areas battling crime on two fronts. Hitting the pavement after roll call to hook up the bad guys is the easy part of the two fronts. The second front is taking a bullet in the back from the bosses for following their orders when things go South or worst not toeing the line drawn in the sand of us against them when corruption and blatant systemic racism rears their ugly heads while you struggle to go home after 8 hours of watching the cities guts instead of being shoveled into a body bag for that last ride to the ME's office. 86% of NYPD MOF's of Color pull the pin and drop their tin after 20 and out at 1/2 pay instead of doing the full bid because they are just plain sick and tired of the sh*t from all sides of the fence.

Aren't those the same departments that turned their backs on a new mayor during a major speech announcing a different direction in policing? Aren't those the same departments that sorta went on strike by basically spending all their time touring the block with a donut shop because of some proposed new civil oversight on their actions? And continued to do so until the proposed civil oversights were rescinded?
Do I have that right?

It's my position that until our police departments in this country can have a pool of people to draw from that are not spiritually bankrupt then we will always have what we have now.

ps.
If I see one more blow up Santa or blow up snowman or blow up Christmas tree I'm going to find about a half a case of lite loads pull out my .410 and go put every one of them out of their misery.

I read not long ago a good line that sums up my feeling about the propaganda the popo puts out;
1/2 truth + 1/2 truth = a lie.

The academy is total BS, the ADA instructors are the worst of the lot, they tell how to not describe exactly what you witnessed to describe what any given place and time you might possibly have witnessed and other generic legal ramble and get off the witness stand forthwith lest a sharp defense attorney boxes you in then it's tell the truth or purger yourself and hope the ADA calls for a approach with the defense attorney and the judge. Your future rides on what deal they can work out. That's one of the times you wish you were on vacation. What? How did my comment wind up here?

This should be the reply to ogouns comment #5.

That totally uncalled for slight was not even over the shootings leading to the deaths of NYPD MOF's Liu and Ramos. These new Young Turks were butt-hurt over some earlier obscure ruling that didn't go their way. Every old head I talked to agreed that no matter how much a standing mayor was hated, despised or even wished dead that embarrassing mockery would never have been tolerated by the brass before 1995. In any paramilitary organization one must respect the position the man holds, they don't have to respect the man holding the position however proper comportment dictates that they must act accordingly in the mans presence.
