    A queen died today-
bet you didn't hear about that on CNN
    Well, check the paper again,
maybe you overlooked it as you flipped through
to see who made the sweet sixteen
or the location of the latest crime scene
    or celebrities to be seen,
aint seen **** about the death of a queen,
    but a queen died today.
Naw, she ain't have elaborate estates,
matter of fact, she lived around your way.
Now don't give me that look as if to say
that because she aint like in a mansion, but around your way
    that she isn't a queen,
because I'm tellin you that a queen died today!!
She was a different kind of queen though.
A queen with a king who's been locked away for years it seems ,
doing time for a pipe dream
that was supposed to help him live above his means
but resulted in a nice retreat
    to a cold 5x3
with nothing to do but count the tocks of a ticking clock
    behind bars that are locked.
But yet as he was there and she was here,
she loved him as if time had stopped.
    This queen died today!
From her big round, brown belly, this universe came into play,
from her breast came nourishment to sustain us day by day,
the pharoah's strength came when in HER arms he would lay.
And you just walk around like everything is just okay?!
    But a Queen died today!!
    Of what cause?
A broken heart, some might say.
Not with guns, but with tongues she was slain.
Degraded from a woman of royalty
    to a b***h a *** of mediocrity.
Little more than a sex toy that gets played and passed
her worth now measured by the curve of her ***...
Couldn't bear this anymore, her spirit from her body slowly slid away,
before you the mother of this universe's body lays,
for us, her childre, I pray
    A queen died today...

Thanks everybody!! I read somewhere that a society will never elevate beyond the state of it's women and I thought about many of today's young women and what they have been reduced to. That's where the inspiration came from. Thanks again for the love ya'll!!
