Quiet Poetry Lounge : "A POEM FOR STEPHEN" PT II

Hello Tha-Emissary:
It's been a while but always a pleasure.
You are too kind. I think you are right.
As parents we often think our children
are not listening when we talk, but I have
learned that they do. My son has come and
told me on many occasions "Mom you were right
about this or that". Being a single parent
it made me fight and work harded because
I wanted him to succeed. Thanks again
for the sweet words of kindness.

Much Luv

The Right Thing

I liked your post very much because underneath it the implication is that you were a parent to the child and not his "bestess" friend. It is hard being a parent, even if there are two. You want everything for your child, but you know they have to earn it for it to mean anything. Now I see you looking back and seeing itwas worth it. More importantly, I see Stephen looking back and understanding the things he has to do to avoid beiung another statistic and adding his name to the list of doers--the same thing he will teach his child one day. Bravo to you! :climb: Keep moving on up! Amun-Ra

Amun-Ra:
You made very profound statement,
"you were a parent to the child and not his "bestess" friend"
You see I had my son when I was very young so
it was very important to me to make that he
knew and understood that I was his Mother 1st and friend 2nd.
Sometimes times that can be a challenge. All of his
friends parent were much older than me. But I always
made sure he was crystal clear on that point.

Thank you so very much for the kind words and the visit.

Scry'be:
