I've been listening to my brothers' compliants concerning you
And now that I understand his plight I believe this note is overdue
For just as you don't like to pay for other sisters' past trangressions
He doesn't want to be held accountable for someone else's indiscretion
He understands that other brothers left your heart broken and exposed
He's willing to be the vessel that heals the wounds that another imposed
However he will not allow you to crucify him for the sins of your last lover
Hence you got to close the door on your past and understand that it's over
And judge him on the merit of his own actions without the bias of the past
For how will you ever meet mr. right if you judge them all to be like the last
I hear you saying only fools are twice bitten and momma didn't raise no fool
But sister why not use the knowlege learned from the experience as a tool
Instead of using it to build walls of protection, use it as a selection guidebook
And then maybe you will be able to give that good brother a real honest look
Always interested in the one who is consistently as high as a giraffe's neck
Never the one who's moves beyond the hip-hop lifestyle to a 9 to 5 paycheck
Sisters, to get what you never had then you got to do what you never done
So before you say there are no good mates out there, make sure you are one

This is a splendid write and so very true.
Its always so much easier to blame someone
else instead of looking in the mirror. I know sometimes
its rough out here for the sista's but
I know the brotha's are encountering just as much junk too.

"to get what you never had then you got to do what you never done"

Now that's some real talk right there.

Much Luv
