The negro speaks of rivers, but i speak of seas and oceans
they ask for 40 acers n a mule, but we were robbed of a contenent with lions
we demand reperations, y dont we demand the revenue made off the slave trade,
Mya Angelou knows y the cage bird sings, they cage us up in prison to steal our songs and styles of music and give whte people da credit for what we invinted ask little richard, they say money is power, but aint no black faces on no money, we say da black fist is power, but they locked all the black panthers away, where's biggie and tupac, where's martin and malcom, i bet they know about jfk murder, i love whte people im not prejiduce, i love all people im not partial, but i gotta speak about da injustice, excuse me if my poem dont rhyme, bit Nikki Giovanni said dat revolution dont lend itself to b-boppin, we gotta ova come, we gota get us free, we got B.E.T we deserve some R.E.S.P.E.C.T, dis is a call to arms, to all my people, da revolution will not be televised!!!

a negro speaks of rivers
and how it breathes life within
carries us to deliverance
from life and earthly sins
a negro speaks of rivers
and how to free you soul
from the degredation of overselves
to the salvation of our futures untold
a negro speaks of rivers
so we that we can truly see
the gift that keeps giving is
the gifts given from thee to thee

nice drop poet... flow on...
