Black Poetry : A leap of faith

[Becoming_me]

As I stand upon the edge of the never
ending abyss I close my eyes and leap
head first shouting I LOVE YOU at the
top of my lungs.

I am surrounded by the immortal echoes
of those who jumped before me pondering
the word Love?

An idea?
A destination?
A journey?
What can they mean?

for I know love, and I have witnessed
it in all of its greatness
its you
it's me
it's us
its we

We know where we're at
we know where we're going
it's so simple, so clear
it's our destiny and we are destine...

love is you and me

I slowly begin to open my eyes
and stare in dismay
can this be?
Am I alone?

we once walked hand and hand on
our way to the edge of the universe
humming that sweet melody
OUR LOVE IS ETERNAL

What happened?
how can this be?

I remember closing our eyes as we both
dived into that wonderful pool of love

We were perfect, we were destined
it was you, it was me, it was us, it
was we...

DAM I can't believe
what I have done
I jumped and Im out of control
falling, struggling to gain my
position

I reach out for a branch trying to regain my
sanity and finally grasp a taste of reality

THERE IS NO YOU....

just me...
no us..
no we.
no love
no hate
just life
my plate...

I've grown now but I often remissness of past
days and a love that I thought I knew.
You were my heart, my soul, and my truth

We knew what we wanted
and where we were going
our destination was clear
but where did it take us?

right when I thought I knew and finally
had myself together There you were
standing before me...

what shall I do

Will my focus be tainted by the false hope
of yesterday for yesterday is the ever so clear
picture of happiness

Or was all this just a moment of growth on
that great journey that we call life?

maybe we just needed time

Will there be you
will there be me
will there be us
will there be we...

I release and continue to fall

that part stuck out to me dont know why

also liked the ending

I feel ya!

Except for a mispelled word in the 13th stanza, this was a very outstanding piece of work you reached to the core of heartache and made something beautiful....You stirred my soul
and yes I too "reminisced"....(that's the word you mispelled)...had my heart leaping in anticipation like a good Suspense where you think the end is the end...but is it? The man/woman who has a love to remember is still blessed. "Weep not for what you lost, thank God for what you had!"
