I often thought of him in times of distress
Wishin he could be there with a shoulder upon which my head could rest
I dreamed he would appear and rock me to sleep
And protect me from the pains that ailed me

I dreamed that he would walk back in the same way he disappeared
    With tears in his eyes
He and I both cried for one another’s love
    I loved him
    Though she said I shouldn’t
I trusted him although she said I shouldn’t
    I love(d) him

I fantasized about him and our relationship
    My strength and my weakness
I wanted him there to watch me grow into the woman I am now
I needed him there through the hard times and the good

He was essential to my daily living
He is essential to my daily living
    He is my “Father”
