    Brother Kente417Mojo asked me in another thread what the difference between the WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO was. Although I answered his question in that particular thread, I felt that topic deserved a further explaination. Here is the history of the various organizations:

    The is now a fifth world boxing sanctioning body, which names already established world champions as their champion (like the IBF did in the early 1980s). Almost no one recognizes this new organization as legitimate, and they will have a hard time gaining recognition as most boxing fans believe that there are too many sanctioning bodies.
