Just be real to me boo, I only want you to be true.
All we need is for me to do me, and you do you .
I’m young, black, and educated, they mad I made it.
This whole system is so foul, I’m frustrated.
Just bare with me and let’s see what we can be
We’ll do us, not those fake cats on T.V.
I wanna love you with the lights on, or in the dark.
Not much fuel in my heart, but you light the spark.
There ain’t no need to pretend, ‘cause you’re my only friend.
You’re love belonging to me, I barely comprehend.
We could do well, those couples kill their cells, inebriated by illusions that put them through hell.
The only thing that’s left to do, is to go out and find you, and stop daydreaming about you.
Truth of the matter, the shame in all of this,
is you and me together don’t even exist.
There has to be a better way .
A better day.
When its all okay.
But not today.
But there’s gonna be a better day.
And on that day.
That better day.
I know you’re gonna come my way.
And you’ll stay.
‘Cause I’ma figure out a better way.
