Black Short Stories : a beginning?

If you walked in you would think that GOD was in this place.The song so joyous, the people up and ignited in praise. She was even "caught up in the rapture".
I think they thought they loved, thought they felt human connectiveness, but when the song was over, when the preacher stopped hustling people to join them when...they moved the service "another way" then you saw it was all about money.
"you will get a blessing if you pay this", "God will speak to you if you give to this""don't forget your tithes", "remember the utilites", "we are building aplace for us to find refuge" and on and on and on til you just might have enough to get home with.
her face did not give a hint of what she was feeling. She knew how to smile, say the right thing, show her respect to elders and officers of the church. she had moved from anger , was almost complacent.Who decided who one would help in the church. How come you support this one and do nothing for that one?
She wanted to ask questions, but when she did she received no answers.
She had to get to one of the inner circle and probe...But which one...Who would be her ally..better who would giver her information...
she sat and prayed...

There comes a time when doing the "right thing" just doesn't cut it any more. Perhaps this is the beginning of finding peace of mind. I'd love to read more...

still in he beginning

It was a little difficult sitting there...listening to her go on and on bout how this sister doesn't tell that sista what is going on..how frustrated she was..

BUT she knew this was a part of her plan. Probe, get to know some of these ladies and get answers. She just didn't realize how much time and going to lunch and chatting it would take.

"Why dont you tell the minister that all information is not coming to you?". "well, i know him and if he wanted things to change he would". "Then why are you still on the board if you are not satisfied with how things are going?" "Oh i can't leave now, it's funny, at first you don't want the honor, but then once you have it..you sort of like being ina position feeling powerful and of service" "Well that is all well and good but it doesn't sound like you have much power?
"no, it's just that that women wants to do everything herself and has her own system and doesnt want to share. Let me give you an example of what I mean. You remember that pledge drive last year? Well it isn't on the books" "Whaat do you mean it's not on the book? how do you account for those monies?" "Between you and I? the reverend has.."..MARY.MARY screamed a voice from a cross the room. and here comes sister jones butting in (which is her wont) just when i thought some interesting info was coming my way. I smiled sat back and said to myself okay i've got to wait another day...

sometimes its best to blend in the background and observe. you learn more that way...still awaiting more
