Back in the 70’s I thought I was cool
With a big afro and platform shoes
With bell bottom pants and a flowered shirt
With a gangster lean I was ready to flirt
The girls in hot pants were ready to please
And a tube top could weaken a brothers knees
The music was always soulful in beat
Make a brother jump right up out of his seat
With the flavor of love and romance in the air
Made ya dance all night like ya just didn’t care
The bump was the dance but the grind was better
Make a brother give up some of that green cheddar
Huggy Bear was pimpin, Isaac Hayes sung in chains
And the Dramatics wanted to go outside in the rain
The Chi-lites was stepping and Blue Magic too
And people had sense, no one acted a fool
Oh man how quickly the time goes by,
    But when I reminisce,
I still get that twinkle in my eye.
