I come here with a lifetime of experience, trying to understand what is hard to understand.

Preoccupation with any physical attribute; whether skin color or sexual orientation or height or weight or......does a disservice to your human nature, if one gives said preoccupation precedence over human nature.

Human nature is what it is and is what it has been since humans existed. It is not physical; it is what we all share. I don't understand why people pay so little attention to what we all share and so much attention to physical attributes.

You are black; I am white. So what. I don't get it. My experience has shown me that blacks are preoccupied with their skin color. This web site is just a very small example of this.

    Why the preoccupation?

:hello: urex ... Welcome Welcome Welcome ...

I am preoccupied ... I suppose you could say ... because i love black people.

I am black, my children are black, my parents are black, my aunties, cousins, siblings ... all black.

    I Love Us.

I love hanging out with us, i love talking to us, i love listening to us, i love laughing with us.

    I Love Us.

So much so, that I built a community for us - there weren't many 17 years ago when I started destee.

So rather than wait for someone else to do what I wanted to see and enjoy, I did it myself.

You ask about preoccupation, but it seems you may have a bit of your own ... perhaps ??

You're here asking us why we're so preoccupied with our own selves.

May I ask ... what has you so preoccupied with us ... that you would come and ask us, about us?

What drives your preoccupation urex ?

    Destee,

I can't impress upon you strongly enough the degree to which your sincerity and love and longing come across in your pages.

My question is equally sincere and I think worthy of discussion. I think black people do themselves a disservice by thinking of themselves as blacks first and foremost.

I answered your question but you have not answered mine (which is really your own).

Or have you? ... your preoccupation with us ... is to correct the way we think?

    Am I understanding properly?

What do you mean by us? Black people?
By us, I think of human beings. You separate yourself from me in your mind and by doing so, you do yourself and me a huge disservice.
Us is Us. Do you not see that?

This is what you said :

"My experience has shown me that blacks are preoccupied with their skin color. This web site is just a very small example of this."

    "Why the preoccupation?"

"I think black people do themselves a disservice by thinking of themselves as blacks first and foremost."

You were talking about black people. You only mentioned black people. But now it is "Us" ?

Are you here to help us, black people, think different?

Why are you preoccupied with us, black people? The same question you asked in your opening post.

    Why is this so hard?

I think I have made my point and I think said point needed to be made.

Whether or not this opinion is given any credence, is up to your audience.

I stand by my post and hope that it is given consideration.

I think you are ignoring the history of this country. And 'm not talking about the sanitized version. Skin color, accent, etc. has been used here historically to designate people as other. I don't have to be nice to other. I don't have to include other. I don't have to give other a job or benefits. In fact, other has often been a word for savage or sub human. thus making it easy for me to kill, harm a/o run other away. That is the real history of this country.

I will absolutely not give it or you any more of my consideration.

You asked your question and I welcomed you and gladly answered.

I ask you the same question multiple times and you cannot answer?

You've received all I have to give.

I am familiar with our country's history. What does anything you say have to do with anything I said?
