White suspect in black church fires charged with hate crimes

[IMG] © The Associated Press CORRECTS ARREST DATE TO WEDNESDAY, APRIL 10 - This booking image released by the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal shows Holden Matthews, 21, who was arrested Wednesday, April 10, 2019, in connection with suspicious fires at three historic black churches in southern Louisiana. Matthews faces three counts of simple arson of a religious building on the state charges. Federal investigators also were looking into whether hate motivated the fires. OPELOUSAS, La. — Prosecutors have now added hate crime charges against the white suspect in three recent arson fires that destroyed African American churches in Louisiana.

Twenty-one-year-old Holden Matthews pleaded not guilty at a Monday court hearing. He was ordered to be held without bond.
Three black churches were torched in 10 days. Two were in the city of Opelousas. Another was in a nearby town.
Matthews is the son of a St. Landry Parish sheriff's deputy. He was arrested Wednesday on three charges of arson of a religious building. The three additional hate crimes charges — one for each blaze — were added Monday.
Authorities at Monday's hearing also outlined a litany of new evidence that prosecutors say ties Matthews to the crimes.

Methinks daddy's career just might be in the toilet right about now. If not he's going to be one lonely deputy because no one will want to partner up with him after this. Well maybe he can get a job with LSP especially with their history of racial violence against Blacks.

I do hope you're wrong ogoun. I'm pretty confident the confused toddler will receive a serious Federal bid since the FBI as of late seems to not want to write off all those man hours (Their FBI bosses and bean counters in the DOJ have been screaming for heads lately concerning what they consider "Unwarranted and wasteful" spending) and come up empty so the U.S. Attorney General will press for the Western District Federal Court to push a full bill of indictment through then make a back chamber deal to drop one and take one, charge that is. City-Data shows the City of Opelousas as being pretty much predominately Black (76.7%) and St. Landry Parish has a heavy Black presence (41.4%) so unless the usual Southern state prosecutors office and defense team jury tampering affects the outcome all the state charges should stick with a solid guilty verdict, unless the poor boys defense team petitions to have his case relocated to another venue probably where the Black population is less than (0.1%) since this is deemed a high profile case thereby not affording the child the chances of the case being heard by an unbiased jury of his (LOCAL) day care center peers. Cynic? No, woke.

There IS hope. Not to long ago, there would have been no charges at all
