LAFAYETTE, La. – Fires that destroyed three predominantly black Baptist churches in St. Landry Parish in the last 10 days are clearly "suspicious, the state's top fire investigator said Thursday, adding that they’ve discovered several “patterns” at the three crime scenes.
But it’s too soon to classify the fires as arson, State Fire Marshal Butch Browning said at a press conference, walking a tight line without actually linking the three blazes.
“There certainly is a commonality,” he said. “Whether that leads to a person or persons or groups, we just don’t know. And that’s not unusual for us not to know at this point.”
The fact that it is three black Baptist churches in the same parish is obviously a pattern. “And there are several other patterns,” Browning added.
The third St. Landry Parish church fire in 10 days erupted early Thursday at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church south of Opelousas.

    April 10, 2019 at 9:12 PM CDT - Updated April 10 at 10:15 PM
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The son of a St. Landry Parish sheriff’s deputy is in custody in connection with recent church fires in St. Landry Parish, according to our news partners at KATC.
KATC said multiple law enforcement sources confirm that the suspect is 21-year-old Holden Matthews, who was taken into custody Wednesday evening.
The fires all took place in St. Landry at historically black churches between March 26 and April 4. Church officials say they believe their churches were targeted.

“At first we thought maybe it might have been an electrical problem. But then when the second burning occurred, I realized that it was our sister church also and in a rural area. And then two days later, the third occurred, and so it leads me to think that we are maybe being targeted, yes,” said Freddie Jack with the Seventh District Missionary Baptist Association.
The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal announced a press conference Thursday to update the public on the investigation into three church fires in St. Landry Parish.
The conference will be held at 10 a.m. LAOSFM says Gov. John Bel Edwards will be in attendance.

Gee the poor boy only committed three (3) acts of "Simple arson" per Louisiana State Statute 14.51/14:52 which is considered a felony when the damage accrues more then $500.00 per act. Three acts, let's do the math. That totals a minimum of $1,500.00 collectively so not to mention the fact that the infamous Louisiana State Fire Marshals Office (Who over the years during the Jim Crow era historically couldn't close several hundreds of cases of Black men and women being burned alive at the stake in numerous Parishes statewide) in some skewed way doesn't consider this as the typical act of Domestic Terrorism puzzles me to no end.

    Update on church burnings

The NAACP is calling the burning of three historically black churches in Louisiana an act of 'domestic terrorism'. It is still not known if the fires were set intentionally.

Gotta just love it to [email protected]##$#$#$^&$^*(#

I ain't as forgiving as the good church going folk. I want this mofo cracker charged under the federal hate crimes act and doing 15 to 25. (or what ever the length is suppose to be)
    It's a clear cut case....period.

And why ain't they out there smearing him like they do us?
What's the worst they done so far?........He listen to heavy metal music. Yeh that real damning.
Bet he smoked some weed some time. They always come up with that for us.
Bet he hung with his homies a lot. That always counts against us.
Bet he 's had a couple problems in school maybe even a some arguements with teachers. Whoa! Big that's big time for us.

I want this white bread trash to go down and I'll gladly pay to make his sorry *** suffer for as long as I can see it happen.
