"a crocodile was found in New Orleans swimming down the street.
21 FT long, 4,500 lbs, around 80 years old minimum.

Specialists said that he was looking to eat humans because he was too old
    to catch animals.

The crocodile was killed by the army last Sunday at 3:00
pm, currently he is in the freezer at the Azur hotel."

    they eat dead things.
all the corpses floating in the water would have been irresistible to him.
personally, i don't think they should have killed him.
just chase him back to the swamps.

A crocodile, in fresh water? are you sure it wasn't an alligator? lol

You think he shouldn't have been killed huh, I think they should have blown his head off :bazooka: and made some shoes out of him :)

    i noticed that too.
new orleans is at a juncture where the river meets the ocean. same as florida.
there may be salt water in the swamps, i'm not sure.
    why kill him?
he was just doing his thing, which is eat dead things.
    scavengers keep the environment clean.

Yea they do eat dead things, but they also hunt for live things if they can get their jaws on them, like unsuspecting children.

I got an email with the picture of that thing. It was huge. Swimming throughout the streets. The military killed it and they are going to open it up and see exactly what it's been eating since Katrina struck. That's crazy. It was 4500 pounds.

    Internet hoax

I saw this story a week ago. Check out this websight. Someone obviously changed the facts of the story and it gained momentum from there.

    http://www.snopes.com/katrina/photos/crocodile.asp

These photographs actually show a crocodile that was shot and killed on 6 July 2003 at Pointe-Noire in the Republic of Congo. According to an article in allafrica.com, the reptile was a Nile crocodile whose vital statistics fell a bit short of the claims made above: he was estimated to be 50 years old, about 16 feet in length, and about 1,900 lbs. (not quite the 80-year-old, 21-foot, 4,500-pound monster described in e-mail).

SOB's. Why can't people just tell the truth and stopping hyping stuff up. My goodness. Some people should get a life. Either way, they did have alligators of crocs swimming down there. Probably weren't that big though. Thanks indya.

No problem!! After the first day or so the alligators were probably just as eager as the people to get out of that nasty water.

If he's a danger to humans what choice do they have? Even wild animals will kill to protect themselves or their young.

I also heard that this story was a hoax, which I can believe because if you study the picture it is clearly in Africa. Also New Orleans has alligators not crocs. I have heard stories of alligators biting people and rescue workings, which I'm sure is true.
