    Serena's victory should be celebrated. every time she loses, white america counts her out...as being over the hill and ready to retire--listen to their commentaries. i love the fight in her...in showing them why she's number one...even at age thirty-two. Maybe you don't remember how Arthur Ashe and others had to fight to get into the game. Jimmy Connors--the great white hope--didn't think Arthur Ashe should be on the same court as him. The first time Ashe beat him at Wimbledon, he ranted and raved like a spoiled brat, calling it a fluke that would never happen again. when Ashe beat him at Wimbledon the following year, he cried like a baby. It was harder for blacks to break into tennis than it was to break into golf--both were considered "white's only" sports that blacks could never master.

    every time Serena steps on a court, i want her to win.
