Football Star Gets Life For Armed Robberies
AUGUSTA -- A former high school football star has been sentenced to life in prison plus five years for his part in a string of armed robberies a year and a half ago.
Johnny Overstreet Jr., 19, was convicted of more than 30 criminal charges Friday.
Overstreet declined to enter a plea agreement, though he was offered several, and even at one point refused, to attend his own trial.
Superior Court Judge Carl C. Brown Jr. told Overstreet that the athlete's disrespectful attitude was considered as part of his sentencing.
