It’s a faint feeling
enough of it though lingers,
To remind me quietly
once it was here,
Now without it’s presence,
I sleep with Two Comforters
during the cold nights,
Or I suffer to wake up
with Cold Toes in the morning,
When it was in my life
this problem was never an issue,
That Black Love….
More like the Black Ice
you never saw coming,
Though once you’re on it
you know its real,
Keeping me warm,
The flava of Mocha Supreme
mixed like in my Hot Chocolate,
Don’t drink coffee
just for that simple fact of reason,
Cause the residual effect to me
makes me too jumpy plus uptight,
Her brown skin in memory
was the vision of Chocolate
laid back forever just smooth,
Mental Intellect
cruising with Sophisticated Progression,
Carrying the history
all plus 400 years worth
of our Culture’s Oppression,
Even the footnotes
filled with the Brother’s
who could not love their Mother’s,
So how could they ever
know your value
to in turn appreciate your Black Love,
A body with figure so deadly
to false prophets
like the Middle Passage,
But one you travel in reverse,
Knowledge known
to the one she anoints,
Navigating her body
was like Euphoria,
The Prodigal Brother’s & Sista’s
going home,
Sailing from the Omega
back to the Alpha,
Her feminine essence
with all its abundant riches
represented the Mother Land,
We made Love
multiple times a day
just so I could catch
the Sensual Scent
every time she left afterwards,
Smelling like
Sweet Royal Egyptian Musk,
Where the temperature
because of her presence,
Never dropped below
12 Noon in the Nubian Dessert,
Now seemingly seasons away
in another lifetime,
All I have are distant fading reminders,
Cause I sleep now
with Two Comforters
during the cold nights,
Or I suffer to wake up
with Cold Toes in the morning.
