The Inspection Roll of Negroes, commonly referred to as the Book of Negroes, is a record that is not widely known, but will soon be.
During Black History Month, Black Entertainment Television (BET) will air a three-part miniseries based on the novel "The Book of Negroes (or Someone Knows My Name)" by Lawrence Hill. The novel and miniseries tells the story of Aminata Diallo, a fictional character whose life is changed because of this historical document.
The Book of Negroes i...s actually a set of two ledgers that lists the names, ages, and descriptive information of about 3,000 enslaved African Americans, indentured servants, and freedmen that were evacuated from the United States along with British soldiers at the conclusion of the American Revolution.
You can see more of the document here: http://research.archives.gov/description/5890797

Same here bro. $RICH$, I'm enjoying catching up on a bit of history not well recorded or documented in the Forums. Aminata does that for me in her role of becoming what she desired to be, a griot.

Cuba plays a strategic role as well, as Sam, the Jamaican just as shrewd as Marcus Garvey had to be in his decision making. Overall, its good stuff that is good to know.

    Peace

Isnt it the same old story, with a new title when our people react to the injustice done and still being done to u s?

I haven't watched it and will not because it's only purpose is to sublimially keep you docile.

    no!

When's the last time a movie, or mini series came out about black astronomers, physicians, physicists, scientists, or mathematicians?

Don't answerc it's a trick question. But, why is it a trick question, is the answer.

So folks didn't get their fill of slave movies in 2012, 2013, and 2014?

How to use the Media Industrial Complex in order to continue the promotion of the concept of "White Supremacy"... note the term "concept".

The industry seemingly decided to open its honey hole and douse theaters with a pro-ponderous amount of "Massah" affection... yes, pro-ponderous.

    2014

The Keeping Room 2014 The film takes place during the American Civil War. Three women in the South have to protect their home against soldiers of the Union Army.

    Something Whispered/Freedom
In the United States in the 1850s, a black man attempts to free his family from a tobacco plantation.

    2013

    12 Years a Slave
2013 The film is based on the true story of Solomon Northup, a free black man who was kidnapped in Washington, DC in 1841 and sold into slavery.

    Savannah

    2012

    Django Unchained

In the American South in 1858, a slave is purchased by a German dentist and bounty hunter and agrees to help him track down a small group of dangerous outlaws in exchange for his freedom and the rescuing of his wife from a cruel plantation owner.

    Lincoln
During the American Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln pushes to abolish slavery from the United States.

In summation, it seems that 2013 was the explosion of the slave-ploitation, even to the point where an actor had to be in two of them, Savannah and 12 Years a Slave.

    Another set for this year...2015

    The North Star
The film is based on "the true story of Big Ben Jones, a slave who escaped from a Southern plantation in 1848 and is helped by local Quakers".

What Movies About Slavery Teach Us About Race Relations Today
Unlike 12 Years a Slave, the 1993 film Sankofa doesn't feature a "white savior," reminding viewers that the present is still full of exploiters.

Not interested in finding out what value would come from viewing this, not to mention it being on "Black" Entertainment Television.

The punch line doesn't even have a joke, yet they still attempt tell it anyway.
Why not just put Rosewood on repeat for the month, see how that works out?

Interesting they can invest all the time and money into all of these films and TV series, but can't set up an American Slavery Museum.

Oh, and the BET series Book of Negroes is produced by...
