FDA Finally Reveals Most U.S. Chickens Contain Cancer-Causing Chemical

After a long time of there being a lot of talk about chicken meat sold and consumed in the USA containing deadly chemicals, the FDA has confirmed it. The government agency finally admitted that chicken meat that is sold to American consumers contains arsenic, a cancer causing chemical that can kill people when consumed in high doses.
The reason why the chemical has been added to chicken feed is because of aesthetic reasons. The deadly toxin makes store bought chicken look healthy (bright pink) and plump. Tests reveal that this is true with 70% of chicken sold in stores.
According to the FDA website fda.gov, the FDA has instructed that the drug Roxarsone should no longer be manufactured. The drug contains arsenic and was found in the livers of close to 50% of the chicken that were tested.
The Wall Street Journal reports,
“The agency said it recently conducted a study of 100 broiler chickens that detected inorganic arsenic at higher levels in the livers of chickens treated with 3-Nitro compared with untreated chickens … Pfizer said sale of 3-Nitro would be stopped by early July in order to allow animal producers to transition to other treatments.”
It is surprising that the FDA would make such an urgent request since the agency has long denied that the arsenic in chicken was a threat to public health. The agency claimed that the toxic chemical was at such low levels that it was safe to consume. It has however been proven that the chemical is highly toxic and could cause a lot of damage to the body, including neurological defects in unborn babies.
In order to be safer, when buying chicken, the best option is to buy “Certified Organic” meat products only. A second option is to inspect the chicken before buying it. Chicken that is unnaturally bright pink should be avoided.
