Sad testimony of our times. The Kardashians women who contribute nothing to advance our culture. Yet they receive constant media attention on the level of statesmen. African hair styles have existed for hundreds of years. So how can they be trendy? Whites takes on our traditions and water them down by fitting them into fads.

Remember the 1979 movie "10" with Bo Derek? Remember her beaded african braids? They were a sensation to whites even though black actress Cicely Tyson was seen on T.V. sporting them in 1974 long before Bo Derek had them braided into her hair. Whites started "the fad" of sporting long beaded french braids. Some of them in my hometown even said "whites invented beaded braids" my cousin almost engaged in a physical fight with a white girl who told
her Bo Derek "invented" beaded braids!


What I hate about whites wearing our hairstyles particularly the african styles they take the dignity out of african style hair buy turning them into a trend.What a shame

Grrrrr...this hits a sore spot for me because I do recall people's reaction to Bo Derek when she wore corn rows in the movie, "10". But that was a time pre-weave so it sort of made sense to me. Now that many Black women prefer to wear someone else's hair woven onto their heads, you will see the modest to the ridiculously long, flowing hairstyles that aren't the natural texture and length to most Black women.

Now you have the Kardashian sisters making tons of money copying hairstyles associated with Black women:

But at the same time, there are Black women who are trying to style their hair to look like Kim Kardashian. You see it all over YouTube. Here are just 2 examples:

Our culture is seen as the epitome of Kool... It's in our music, fashion, and swagger. We set all popular trends, and when you see a white do our dance, we may as well move on because they own it. Also it is society that cuts and commercializes pieces of our culture for white consumption. They do this without knowledge of, or respect of what this means to black folks.

Seriously fam....lets compare.
