Since the making of the two Mandela movies, I was again inspired (angered) too research what happened over there and why? I am in the process of finishing book number 7, "Miriam's Song", a Memoir by Miriam Mathabane as told to Mark Mathabane, her brother, who fled South Afrika in the 80s to come here to attend school and play tennis! The story starts when she was 13 years od, and covers a lot of the really bad years of the 80s rebellions. It's very easy too read, and is a good book for most children 12 and up. I highly recommend this book for women with young female mentees. ;)

The irony of him profiting from the hardships of his mother, who had to scrub white women's toilet and endured their abuse in Kaffir Boy and his sister's story is that he used that money to buy a white woman instead of uplifting a woman from his own community.

Do you think this happened because of how his life was growing up, then going to see how carefree whites lived and gravitated towards that? IMO, that is the lure, and the lie. Who you are, and what you are is not defined how you grew up, that has been breaded into many of us. Now in order for us to feel important, or to feel good we have to seek the white way of life, and shun our own blackness?

No, No,...not me in a million years. Why, I know how great we are, others strive to be like us. The came to us to learn much of what they know.

Peace!

It has nothing to do with a "white" way of life, he's just prideless, worthless scum who chose to uphold white supremacy. I grew up in predominately white neighborhoods, had white friends and boyfriends....I CHOSE to make my life and children with Black men. White supremacy wins because of people like that.....how you get kicked in the face, spat on and still worship your oppressor? Whites and others have no reason to change their negative attitudes and actions towards us because people like that reward them for their disrespect and abuse. YOU teach people how to treat you and too many of us tell them that we will gratefully lick the boot that kicks us.
