somewhere ova da rainbow....
Hello everyone.

First I like to say, I am starting this thread to share my story. To give my information that I have learned on my journey of living with epilepsy. My purpose is that it may help the next person. And It will also help with everyday living, eating habits, vitamins and for my sisters if you are going through menopause its also some things you can for them hot flashes and night sweats. I cant take a lot of meds that a you all can take and they don't tell you about. So I am going to try and share what I can If you don't mind ....

My fight started in 2007 with a TIA known as a small stroke/mini stroke or medical term Transient ischemic attack. I have petit ma seizures, simple partial,Tonic clonic seizure but you may know them as Grand mal seizures in which I was having small stokes with them. I was diagnosed with epilepsy in November 2008 by a neurologist specialist.

I been on a lot of medications until they came out with an experimental drug called Vimpat that works for me. I currently take 2 seizure medication vimpat and zonisamide 1000mgs a day, between the both along with a lot of vitamins. And 200mgs if I end up going to the hospital with 40 mgs of something to sedate me.

For me that is nothing compared to what I use to take a day, So I am pleased with my dosage/protocol, I don't walk around like a zombie anymore. In the beginning it was frustrating.

Knowing the difference between seizures and epilepsy

What is epilepsy?
It is a neurological condition that affects the nervous system. Also know as seizure disorder. It is diagnosed after a person has had at lease 2 seizures that is not caused by a
medical condition. ( epilepsy is the term for recurring seizures)

What is a seizure?
Seizures seen in epilepsy are caused by disturbances in the electrical activity of the brain. And may be related to a brain injury or a family tendency but most of the time the cause is unknown.

Thanks for sharing your story...do hope all goes well with you.

There is a friend of mine at church her husband suffers with seizures too.

Good Rising. I was born having high fevers and seizures. Was not called epilepsy. When I was old enough to ask questions, they told me I had an underdeveloped nervous system. They gave me phenol barbital 3 times a day from age 6 months til age 7!!! The drug did more damage than the seizures. When I finally went to therapy as an adult in my mid 40's, I was told that it can take 50 years for this stuff to wear off!!! To be totally out of system. I did a 40 day cleanse in January 2014, with the intention to get the rest out once and for all. During that time, I learned that phenol barbital causes brain damage! I also learned that there are many foods and herbs that we can use to heal the brain. I enjoy taking super blue green algae with my coconut water. This, plus my consistent Kemetic Yoga Practice, is doing wonders for me, especially for my attitude and health. There are many chants and breathing exercises that are especially designed to activate and strengthen the brain. Once I have made enough posts, 10 or more?, I will post some links for you to check out.

Thank you for sharing. Peace

I have a friend whose husband is epileptic. He used to drive but the doctor stopped him. If he is in a car and he begins to get an attack he would just grab the next person to him and start a deep groaning. He works, but his wife said that he does not get enough rest. I saw him getting a few attacks at church and it was scary.

Do wish you all the best.
