Black People : Can't We Be Civil To Each Other

Whatever the shortcomings of some (not all) who post on these forums, also one and all should be intelligent and wise enough to realize this:

We are the role models etc. for the younger generations...

I agree brutha Chuck...you and I both have seen the ones that try and force you thru names calling to see it that way. They also try and use shame by throwing out the usual buzz words, like sellout, ignorant negros, puppets, programed, etc.

Peace!

Here is the set up...

One child proclaims:

"My macaroni and cheese is better than yours, cause my momma told me so!"

Whereby leaving the other child confused, because they have a plate of "mixed vegetables". I suppose the one child did not look to see what was in the plate of the other before making the bold proclamation, then goes back to eating their "macaroni and cheese" because of how delicious it tastes to them.

This is often how I have viewed some of the simple nature of the back and forth at times, but they are indicative and relative to observing the "condition" of a people.
:toast:........Nice.

If I may add...in spite of the obvious difference in dishes, but even if they were the same, the first child didn't realize food among other things is subjective, and had no empirical evidence to support his claim.

Peace!

Before coming to Destee.com I was a member of another online black site. What I find is that the same thing persist in these online forums.

  • Folks become angry when you have a difference of opinion
  • It seems that people feel uneasy having to go against the crowd
  • There are those who think they know it all and must have the last word on every subject.
People need to understand that they may NEVER meet any of the members here, so why should they be hesitant in expressing their views. I believe the way people respond here is the way they would respond in the real world and their true colours come out. You can tell the attitude of people by the contentious way they approach the threads.

Folks we all can agree to disagree without being disagreeable. I think that maturity is the key. Every one has an opinion and remember an OPINION is not a FACT.

Not sure about others here, but I have a life OTHER than on Destee. I work hard each day at my job plus I have a craft business, so when I come here my aim is not to be petty and contentious. I love it here and I believe we can be more civil.
I think a good thing would be to discuss some other topics which are not so divisive.

Every so often, the below should be required reading, it helps to keep us balanced and focused on the goal of unity ...
