The Front Porch : Letter From a Deadbeat to His Son

It's not a "protocol." It's dishonest if you don't. You accepted all those "like" confirmations and posts of praise for what others thought was your LIFE, not your "writing style." You mixed fact with fiction WITHOUT the readers' knowledge, and that's not cool. Black children, children's social/emotional development, the black family and consequently, the mental health of the black community, are important. They should be treated in that same vein - as vital. Not as an accolade-hungry con man's shell game.

Yes....I agree...But...I'm afraid some don't seem or sound like the future of the intact black family was or is an issue they need or want to help us find means and ways to preserve or protect...

FYI...

In most cases the subject isn't even discussed... My way of contributing is to find creative ways of bringing the subject to the table where discussion can take place, because I believe if we do not communicate with each other the victims (our young brothers) will continue to suffer in silence.

The means must justify the ends too...

Respect and trust are too easy to lose, difficult at best to win, when it comes to our young folks...

I. e., some are confused and frightened, though few take the time etc. to find out why...

FYI...

I would agree with your point if I was a seasoned member of the site. As you can tell the piece was my very first post. I may not be as deep as many of you on this site but what I am good at, is framing social issues in a creative way.

Rest assured, that I am used to comments like yours and it doesn't phase me one bit. I don't have time to waste on negativity. If people are upset because I didn't say the story was fiction, then we are in worst shape than I thought. In my profile I did say the I was a poet, but one that also told stories.

Moving on...
