I've never been in an abusive relationship (except the one with this government), but can imagine that each one must be managed carefully. What works for one, gets one person out safely, may not work for all. Many folk die at the hands of their abusers, so caution is needed. Some victims of abuse can just leave, while others must strategically position themselves to break away. A little at a time, begin hoarding some money, some essentials of life, slowly separate themselves from the abuser ... reducing dependence on them.
Yeah ... each victim responds different, specific to their situation, as they try to empower themselves.
Unfortunately, some choose to do nothing but cry, numbed by the abuse and empty promises.
