Greetings Destee!
Thank you for all of your love and uplifting spirit, much appreciated!
As far as a Black institution, I'd like to share an excerpt from the Politics from a Black Perspective meeting here at Destee.com, which describes the definition of an institution, as follows:
definition of an institution by way of Wikipedia, which is: Any structure or mechanism of social order and cooperation governing the behavior of a set of individuals
within a given human community. Institutions are identified with a
social purpose and permanence, transcending individual human lives and intentions, and with the making and enforcing of rules governing cooperative human behavior.
Often times we take on the role of something without even realizing it, as well as having a greater impact than we are aware. Your humility is a gift and I treasure that in you! However, whether you realize it or not,
you are the Mother of a Black institution, Yes! We have a purpose within our community...think about all that has happened in the 12+ years of establishment and the future goals...once more of us start valuing this place as OUR place...a Black institution, solely for US and view one another as family
amidst our differences, coming together for the common purpose of our people, it won't be surprising for one to label this community as such, but rather we will raise that flag proud, and I'm sure
many of us do now, I see cooperative movement here, like
Group Think and oldsoul's classes, not to mention future developments in process, organizing a motion in the name of our people, coming together in
unity...things are happening and it only gets better!
Thank you for birthing this place and it is my intent to invest my time and
$money to keep the torch lit!
Love You
!
