Black People : Why do black people take issue with Bill Cosby's comments

on the current state of the black community? In an age of "keep it real" it seems the "realest" of them all is not embraced. My opinion is because he's saying things about us that we KNOW are correct, we just choose not to face and change them.

IMHO, it is because many Black people see him as a hypocrite of sorts. He spent so much time portraying the image of a devoted family man, that when those affairs came up (with nonblack women in particular), I'm not sure how much of his credibility he retained.

He's credibility didn't change IMO. He's a human being who screwed up, like all of us. He never claimed perfection and there is not a single one of us without skeletons in our closet of some sort. If not Cos then who CAN call us out and hold us accountable for our actions? It still doesn't make what he said any less true.

It was you who posed the question...I just offered my take. I don't think this is about people looking for perfection, but generally folks don't often take kindly to being beaten over the head with advice by those who've yet to acknowledge their own flaws. ...just sayin'.

I understand that and thanks for your input.

I just believe that we all have our issues but when someone is trying to help us we should at least listen without getting defensive.
