Black People : What does honesty and truthfullness entail?

I think that's the case...because if you love someone and depends on the person, you'd probably lie to shield their feelings...I am the type of person that would just figure out how to gently tell it how I see it. Then I'd be known for what my responses are, and don't have to put that disclaimer up every time I answer a question that I think will hurt them..I see it as hurting them if I don't tell them the truth!

I agree... I am the kind of person who tells the person the truth nicely if I can. I say if I can because sometimes, people prefer to hear lies, in which case, one can not win for losing, it doesn't matter how nice you say the truth. So, if you tell them the truth, they want to become angry with you and then go through measures of trying to sensor you... I'm thinking to my self... hey, you asked me for advice or hey, you are the one who initiated engaging in a conversation with me that takes more than one person to discuss. I can't help that you don't share the same views as me.



Here is another thought as well, say a sista comes to you for advice, she tells you that her boyfriend lies to her, cheats on her and totally disrespects her. She asks you, what should she do? In your opinion, what would be an honest response to this sista?

an objective judgement. lol. I was in a fine mood, just putting in my two cents. It's true. Being honest isn't all thoughtful, sweet and nice. It takes a certain hardness, detachment. I have been accused of being "brutally" honest many times. I only lie to the ones I love

I have been thinking about this all day... What does honesty entail?


I'll go first... one of the things honesty requires is the ability to be objective.

Example of objectivity: Being able to make a clear judgment, without involving ones self. To remove ones bias away from the situation at hand.
