What is the role of religion? What benefit(s) do you derive from believing in what you believe in?

Why do you think your personal beliefs cause so much discord among others or cause others to debate, dispute and disprove its validity?

Are religious beliefs temporal in nature? Based on experience, perspective and current station in life?

Have your religious beliefs changed or evolved over time? If so why?

What is your prime motivation for believing the way you do?

do the terms spiritual, belief, aetheism, agnosticism, and occult practices fall into this category, and do you concider the Lakota, and Hopi faiths religions as well?

IDEALLY, religions should be liberating institutions and traditions that represent a celebration of Universal Truth (i.e. the Creator's Law). Instead, in general, religions (ANY of them) are socially designed to confine people's decision-making processes and rights to protecting the status quo. The evidence of their "effectiveness" can be seen in the lives of those who practice them (i.e. AGAIN, the proof is in the pudding.). They (ALL of them) are truth and lie all rolled up into one, so it's a matter of sorting, gathering, and practically testing the 'newly' discovered principles---no doubt a massive undertaking in this prison some refer to as the matrix.

They cause discord because it's useless as a group or individual to believe you are "top dog" if those you believe you have the 'inherent right' to reign over don't buy into it; you'd have to have a way to insure they do, otherwise you no longer have a basis for the belief (The current collective status of the Black world is a textbook example of this.).

My personal beliefs have changed. I was raised Christian, so if there's any religious affiliation someone would attribute to me, that would be it. However, I'm not a religious person. I'm not an athiest either; I do believe in Higher Powers, but I am seeking information about the nature of them for myself. Will the quest succeed?...I haven't given up and will test some things...we'll see.

Maruawe,

Yes, anything that people espouse a belief in.

I consider the Comanche faith to be a religion and its for the most part a personal belief.

Thanks...

Thank you for your response. I am honored. I wish you well. I know you will succeed.
