Generations of lies and averted eyes
Hiding years of incest and abuse
The older ones scarred from its
Choking, sinful and blood-stained noose
While the young rebel, trying to break loose
Freed from the torture and the torment
Each sadly propagating the inherited sickness
Like a rampant cancer metastasized
Fated pain and hurt, prophesied
Mother to son
Father to daughter
Each newborn babe
A lamb for the slaughter
Sacrificed from the womb
A future rife with heartache
From its first faltering steps
To the cold, dark tomb

And in between?....

A life full of misguided notions
Born of self-destructive actions
And twisted emotions
Deviant sex and wanton promiscuity
Drugs and alcohol interrupting continuity
In a purpose-driven life
Thru generations
Of mental and emotional stress and strain and strife.

Silence is deadly.

Even when some tell it, their cries for help fall on deaf ears.

However, as to the "fixing" of it, I think speaking on it and using different ways to address it: poetry, books, movies, support groups, safe houses, etc.. we can help the victims of incest know that we, as a People, will NOT be SILENT "accessories" to their abuse.

Even this newest movie "PRECIOUS" could be used as a teaching tool and some community organizing with even financial help from Oprah and Tyler Perry and others could have a "SAFE HOUSE" somewhere for children of incest and other sexual assault.

Now, yes, there are also LEGAL hurdles to cross in that but somehow we need to work on this EVIL within our communities.

Well, that's my 2 cents on it.
