Sister Purplemoons,

I wanted to bring to your attention an issue that I am currently experiencing; I am not able to delete any of my posts, and yesterday I had to request a Moderator to do it. The possibility that it could be a technical factor is negated by the fact that It seems I am the only one affected by this, and additionally, I use two different computers - a laptop and a desktop. According to the FAQ section, the only other plausible explanation is that this function has been disabled, so would like confirmation if this is the case.

I look forward to hearing from you!
Many thanks!

Sister Alexandra ... generally, Moderators do not delete posts / threads for Members. This is a long-standing policy, as we encourage every Member to delete their own posts, should they choose to do so.

Sister, it seems you are eager to think the worst of us.

You've essentially determined that this is not a technical problem, even though you've not given us a chance to determine that. You've gone on to assume that you are the only one experiencing this, when others could be as well.

For the record, the ability for every Member to delete their own posts is not (nor ever has been) disabled.

This is the first i'm hearing of anyone having a problem doing this.

While i don't know why you're experiencing this, i assure you, it's no conspiracy against you.

In an effort to troubleshoot the problem, i'd first suggest that you read this thread ... Deleting Your Own Posts ... insuring that you are doing the right things, in order to achieve the desired results.

If after trying that, it still doesn't let you, please let us know, describing as specifically as possible, what happens when you do try ... and we'll keep working on it, until we get it resolved.

If other Family Members are having this same problem, not able to delete their own posts, please let us know.

Much Love and Peace.

Destee,

That you are of the opinion that I harbor such thoughts is the reason why I directed this thread at Sister Purplemoons and unfortunately, I shall not expend my time and energy in an attempt to dissuade you of this belief.

I am particularly amused by your choice of words, a “conspiracy against me?” Well played Destee. Well played indeed. But for the record, your assurance is not required, as I have made no such accusation. Nor would my mind even begin to conceive such a preposterous, outlandish and laughable notion. You might think that highly of this site Destee, but I do not.

How did you come to the conclusion that this problem is based on conjecture? I have the personal email addresses of various members with whom I chat outside Destee.com. For all you know, I could have asked them in passing last night during one of these chats. If anyone is guilty of making assumptions, it is you.

“... insuring that you are doing the right things, in order to achieve the desired results.” I found this suggestion especially helpful. I cannot imagine what has altered so drastically since I changed my username and was able to delete posts then hat I could forget, or struggle with deleting posts under my new username. I shall try this, and if it fails, will seek the assistance of my fellow Destee colleagues.

You say that I have been unfair and not given you or the Mods the opportunity to resolve this. My question is this, when I asked a Mod to delete a duplicate post, explaining that I was unable to do so under my new username, was that not as good an opportunity as any to do so?.

My conclusion that this function might have been disabled was based on the information on this site.

Can I edit or delete my posts?
If you have registered and are logged in, you may be able to edit and delete your posts (although the administrator may have turned off this option). Your ability to edit your posts may be time-limited, depending on how the administrator has set up the forum.

I merely need to know if this is the case or if it is not, so I can make fully informed choices about what I post. At this present time, I am doing so with the knowledge that I full control over this, so if this has changed, for whatever reason, it would be good to know. Anything beyond that is petty politics which quite frankly is beneath me.

Edited to add: At this point in time, I still cannot delete any threads that I have written. The usual steps have been followed.

Best wishes,
Alexandra

Hi Sister Alexandra!

I apologize for my delay in responding and any inconvience you're having at this time. Fortunately, Sister Destee is the best when it comes to solving technical issues on the site. She's more experienced in these areas than i am. But through my experience of not being able to delete my post, i will share what i had to do.

When i had this problem, i realized that i wasn't checking the delete message option, which is in the delete message option box at the top of the edit page. Are you checking the delete message before clicking to delete? This could be why your're having a problem. Try it and let me know if this helps you, other wise than that, i am clueless about why this is happening to you.

I hope that resolves the issue, as we do appreciate your contributions here and wouldn't want to see you give up on us over a misunderstanding.

Hey lovely PurpleMoons,

Thank you for this helpful suggestion. I will certainly try it. I never had to do this under my old username, so never knew this option even existed. I appreciate the kind, and sweet response. Hope you have a good weekend.

Edited to add: I now have the ability to do delete my threads. I did not have to check any box either. Strange, however, I am glad that is all resolved.

Best wishes,
Alexandra
