Somewhere between paradise and diaster

My soul is torn between heaven and hell
Why there's a conflict I can't begin to tell
Heaven is full of splendor that I long to see
But sin's sweet temptation keeps calling me
How do I break loose form this fatal tug of war

When I look back I know I've come too far
To be able to revert backs to my old ways
When my lifestyle came with a price to pay
For though it glimmers now it was a hard life
Beneath the sparkle laid much pain and strife

Hence I must be stronger than Eve and resist
And not succumb as the tempatation persists
Heaven knows I struggle to reach it everyday
For I must look futher than the joy of today

So when its all said and done and I lay down for my final rest
I can proclaim that the struggle is over and I've done my best

Heaven knows I struggle to reach it everyday
For I must look futher than the joy of today

In some respects I guess it's better to put the cart before the horse....
But the horse gallops on, with or without the cart. Sometimes we must be mindful of that horse as he trots with great pride... for he knows nor cares of tomorrow, eat-drink and be merry....for tomorrow we die.
