God uses the law to do for the sinner what needs to be done.
the sinner must realize that he is a sinner. The heavy hand of the law must be laid upon him,and he must be arrested in his course.Notice the following carrefully:
1. It gives a knowledge of sin.

Romens 3:20 -"By the law is the knowledge of sin (romans 7:7)

2.It brings guilt and condemnation.
Romans 3:19 -"' Now we know that what things soever the law saith,it saith to them who are under the law : that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God"'

3.It acts as a spirritual mirror.
James 1:23 -25 "If any hearer of the Word ,and not a doer,he is like unto a man beholding his natural face ina class: for he beholdeth himself ,and goeth his way ,and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into teh perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein,he being not a forgethful hearer ,but doer of the work , this man shall be blessed in his deed"' (james 2:9-12)

Without the law ,the sinner is like a man who is afflicted with a deadly disease that he doesnt know he has.Paul said "" i had not known sin by the law (romans 7:7)...:qqb011:

Don't forget the Law is fulfilled in Christ who paid the penalty of broken law which Justice requires. For instance the Law of knowledge of Good and Evil was broken in the garden of Eden. If Eve had not chosen to partake of knowledge (the real fruit of that tree) they would have continued in a state of ignorant bliss -- not knowing the difference between what joy is and what is sorrow. Therefore there would have been no sympathy understood, no empathy, no compassion, no deeper love. We could not have enjoyed the sweet so fine, not having experienced the sour. Gratitude, a higher plane of consciousness would not exist. Working for goals and helping each other would not refine our character. We would not understand risk and the sacrifice for a greater cause, like saving a child from an oncoming car. We would have nothing to bring us depth of soul and make us great. There would be no need for fine art or writing music, or for that matter striving for greater knowledge. Because; we would be in a la la land -- heaven without knowledge or understanding of what that even is.

Eve had to break that tree law for the fruit of knowledge of good; and evil. The penalty takes us to this fallen condition. We are now in God's university. We learn wisdom here. Others will squander their time, some choosing evil. We have need of a Savior to redeem us from the penalty of the fall. Justice requires it. That is the Son of God, Jesus Christ. He being begotten by God is a physical and perfect child of God, holy. No fallen man can redeem us from what he has need of being redeemed from himself. If not redeemed then we would die with no salvation and our bodies would return to dust forever and Satan would have us, because we could not walk heaven in a fallen state.

I don't think it should be said that we'd be in "la la land" because this was where the Father placed Adam and Eve in love. Who's to say what they Father would and would not have told them of His own choosing without them breaking His command? Only the Father knows and the Son also.
