The mind's a teribble thing to waste
I read one summer day,
but there's so much about the mind
the ad just didn't say.
The ad didn't say what the mind
could conceal....
or that the mind sometimes can't
tell the fake from the real.
It definetly didn't say the mind's a computer,
a tool or plaything like the hammer or scooter,
rolling along, keeping all things on file...
remembering things from when you were a child.
It can learn sounds, colors, languages and art,
but the mind can't speak the language of the heart.
Think about people, think hard if you can,
how the mind defines every darn thing made by man.
It can calculate numbers until there are none,
and measure the distance from the earth to the sun.
Invent and recreate in the image of God itself,
sink real low or excel high on a shelf.
It can explore itself down to its finest part,
but the mind can't speak the language of the heart.
It can describe every organ and tell you its reason,
give a breakdown of time in seconds or seasons,
explore the galaxies of altered demensions,
establish new governments or stir up discensions.
Bring you from darkness into divine light,
or establish those ethics to divide wrong from right.
But of all those things the mind can impart,
the mind can't speak the language of the heart.
