Black Education / Schools : Teaching Our Own Children

Would you create your own curriculum and teach your own children?

Education and Indoctrination are not the same thing but a lot of people who call themselves educators can't seem to tell the difference.

But I do wonder if Afrocentric indoctrination is almost as much of a problem.

I couldn't agree more brother umbrarchist (see post #20)

I can't speak for any other but I detested school from the first day I had to spend in kindergarten to the last hour when I got fed up and walked out leaving all my notes and work done behind from a 2 semester assignment in the energy future of ___________ (a state, the entire state) for the year 2000.*
Aside from a few lights here and there along the way, I absolutely hated it all and in my own way I always let that be known (just ask any of my 'teachers' from about the sixth grade on). What I needed to actually learn in how to become educated didn't need all the hours I and others much smarter then me had to spend in the so called education system. Call me a born cynic or whatever but it didn't take me long to figure out they were pushing something much more but selling it as education.
"I never let schooling get in the way of my education."........Mark Twain.

On that class; about 10 or 12 years later sometime in the mid to late 80's that 'assignment' was presented as THE study made by the state for public review. I looked it over...........yeh I recognized some of my work as well as some of the team I was with and a few others from other teams. Nope not a word of credit anywhere to anyone.

What is your child actually learning?

Who designed their curriculum? Did you know that children of color taught in a culture focused environment have a better sense of purpose and succeed more in the classroom? Children are first visual learners.

This is why we need that representation in the classroom. I believe in a student-centered but African inspired curriculum. Our teachers matter to me, our methods and curriculum were created with us in mind./QUOTE]
PEOPLE wouldn’t a very doable starting point of the African Renaissance in the 21st century be having all of our Schools, especially in the African Diaspora and Africa itself actually utilizing a truthfully updated Afro-centric History curriculum [should have been the first thing addressed and constructed post the political independence of our countries 40 – 60 years ago, STILL isn’t even thought about as opposed to being put in place TODAY] in history itself [based on the works of Che Ante Diop, Dr Henrik Clark, Asa G Hilliard III, Dr Ivan van Sertima and the still alive Anthony T Browder] including its natural seepage in Geography and various other subjects so as to purge the Euro-centric GARBAGE still poisoning both our individual and collective knowledge base?

Hasn’t the so dated Euro-centric GARBAGE that has been so very very efficiently stunting both our spiritual and intellectual development got to be binned, in that why continue to allow our people generally, youth specifically to be poisoned by dated Euro-centric DRIVEL as spectacularly exemplified by our people still being misinformed, aren’t they, that Christopher Columbus was anything other than the first white European to cross the Atlantic [were the Vikings but their north American settlement failed], when as so very very spectacularly highlighted by the 17 Olmec Heads unearthed to date, Africans were going backwards and forward across the Atlantic nearly 3 millennia before Christopher Columbus was born?

Isn’t ANYONE who genuinely believes they are not programmed
graphically illustrating that their programming is COMPLETE?
