Peace,

if you change that "every woman" to "so many women", you can save about 3 pages of back and forth about not every woman's poetry being that way..

But to answer your question.. many people express through poetry, things that they don't feel able.. or comfortable.. expressing in other modes. That said.. I don't know of too many "poor me/pity me" poems here on destee. That might just be the feelings you feel when you process whats said. You might just be projecting your understanding then reading the reflected projection as their intentions.

But.. poetry is Art.. and the truth is.. their are very very many women in poor and pitiful conditions.. physically.. socially.. emotionally.. .. etc. And so it stands to reason that a good portion of women's art would reflect and/or combat that reality.. directly or indirectly.

- Peace again.

95% of poems you hear black women recite, rather on destee or off, it's always whining and complaining, but it's like AIMLESS complaining, and you'll be thinking what the hell is she talking about.
