It's been 7 months now. And Rob still can't find a job. But unlike some Black Men in America, he's not blaming "the Man" Wall Street or the Recession. He knows exactly who is doing it to him. Carlos. An Ex-Friend that got caught up in a cross fire with the police about a year ago. Actually it was Rob's snitching that caused the incident. Rob was the only one who knew about Carlos' upstate drug connects and his different hiding places up-north. Had he never gave up his information perhaps Carlos would still be alive.
The Cops came by his job asking questions, since him and Carl weren't friends anymore he didn't feel too loyal about protecting him.
No it wasn't guilt. And it wasn't karma either. In a strange way, Carlos had it coming to him anyway. He had fathered a child with his best friend Matty's Wife, and his best friend was raising the child as his own unknowingly. Things like that caused Rob to part ways with him, he couldn't be trusted as a true friend.
But why was Rob so sure Carlos was the source of his misfortune? Because the day after his death, he came to him in a dream and told him.
"*itch I'm going to make life for you a living hell!" He heard his voice as sharp as if he was standing next to his bed. Of course he didn't believe it at first.
Then about 2 days later, his Boss just ups and fires 5 people from the restaurant he was working for. Not because business was slow but because he wanted a well managed staff. All of a sudden. After 2 years.
3 weeks later, Rob has to move back in with his Mother and Step-Father because he doesn't have enough money to stay afloat on his own. Carlos continued to visit him. Haunting him, spiting at him. In one dream he saw him at the window, writing his name backwards in blood.
And you thought you had problems?
Rob had a strange feeling that Carlos' spirit and presence was literally around him at all times. Sometimes when the wind wasn't blowing hard, or if he was indoors with all the doors and windows closed, he would get a strong scent of weed and babyoil, which was Carlos' signature scent. At times of course he felt as if his imagination was running wild. But then, things started disappearing.
His Mom allowed him to stay in the basement, which wasn't much at all, he did have a pull out sleeper down there and a nightstand where he kept his change, his watch and other items. One morning he woke up and his watch was gone. Vanished. It was impossible for anyone to come downstairs and take it because the door to the basement was so noisy you couldn't open it without waking up the dead. Poor choice of words in this situation, but the most logical thought was that Rob forgot his watch somewhere. It never turned up.
We once asked the question "do we reach out from beyond" the evidence of that is overwhelming. What do we gain from ignoring it? What about wars? Hundreds and thousands of people killed in cold blood. Are they all now busy at work seeking revenge against those that "supported" their demise?
And what would you do if you had haters in the spirit world?
