Hi Bro. HODEE, Actually, you don't NEED space as large as the dimensions you posted, in order to grow a vegetable garden. That's if you want to plant a "traditional" garden that is organized in a horizontal pattern on the ground. But now, you can design a garden with vertical dimensions which takes up less ground space and maximizes the use of air space using stakes. It's called, container gardening or intensive gardening. With proper care, you can grow a prolific garden of vegetables and floral / herb plants and with fewer pests and spoilage caused when plants lay on the ground subjecting them to fungus / rot, insects and critters. Even vine growing plants like melons...even watermelons...can be grown this way. As the fruit develops and gains weight, one method is to grab an old pair of pantyhose and create a cradle for the fruit to rest in as it grows without ripping from the vine. There's plenty of reading material on these garden designs that can be made cheaply. Also, for those who aren't allergic...for survival purposes, we will need people to maintain honey bee farms for pollinating plants; and earthworms for aerating soil and providing essential soil nutrients. Instead of using pesticides or herbicides...place preying mantis in the garden to feed on destructive insects (you can actually purchase them) and plant marigolds near veggies to deter critters. They hate the smell and the taste.
