Good night. Oh Akan and Yoruba in my blood, will I learn Swahili that when my seeds return to your land, they shall never again leave? I hope to learn more of Swahili--if it truly has the stains of the Musta'rabs (so-called "Arabs"--or "Arabs by adoption") . . . I know not what to do. Because, almost ironically, I recognize those in East Africa as my ancestors too. What most respects us--is my question. If Swahili was another enslaving language . . .. (It's like dismissing the East African sufferings at the hands of Musta'rabs.)
What, are you really serious here or are you trying to play the devil's advocate? Many will have to swallow their petty, local pride for the greater good of the race. This is a matter of the survival of our race as a whole. There's no place for this kind of divisive thinking. We will not be slave again!
Brother, in all respect, how many of our people in West Africa have oral traditions claiming Origins in the East? As far as not being able to have it both ways, I adopted the name Omowale (Yoruba) Jabali (Swahilli) years ago recognizing that while my more recent Ancestry is most likely West African, my earliest root culture is most likely East African, and Swahilli is one of the languages most used as a lingua franca. In regards to Swahilli and Arabic, I hope you realize how widespread Arabic is in West Africa.
