Spiritual baths are basically made by placing the specific herbs (of the corresponding orisa) into a pot of heated water. The herbs are then set to a boil. After the herbs have boiled (which releases their ashe) they are drained. The remaining solution constitutes the spiritual bath. Substances such as efun and oils are added to enhance the ashe as needed. This spiritual constitution is called omeiro when sacrificial blood is included

Prayers are said over the herbs as they are being prepared. Osain, divinity of botany and herbology, is invoked so that the healing elements can be forthcoming

Spiritual baths are suggested to people who need to be cleansed of negating forces which have impacted upon their aura or essence. The herbal properties are absorbed into human dimensions and assist in the dissipation of negating influences. Spiritual baths may also.be prescribed for preventitive measures as well. Many forms of Ifa initiations involve bathing of the initiate in the ewe (sacred herbs) in order to enhance his/her ashe. Sacred objects are also bathed in omeiro as a part of the consecration of the objects

Note; preparation of above mentioned bath must always be done by a traditional priest or shaman, no exceptions

I have had a couple of spiritual baths. Post bath. I felt lighter, cleaner and expressed greater clarity.

May I ask how can I find PART 1 of this thread? I find it interesting and would like to read it. Thanks.

    Moon~

If you have the time and the inclination you can search the archives. Did you prepare herbs for the spiritual baths on your own?
