Black Spirituality Religion : THE POPE ABDICATES, WHATS NEXT?

Sadly, the article made a very clear distinction and even went as far as to say that the 1st 'african popes' were from Roman Africa and therefore not Black. They didn't even list Black as a option they simply stated there is debate over to whether the first African popes looked Arab or White in appearance. The media will continue to report it as the potentially first Black pope.

Zim

No, what's sad Zim is your casual approach toward information rather than dissecting "his-tory" for truth.

To lead by example, here's research fishing out truth:

Pope Saint Miltiades, also called Melchiades (Μελχιάδης ὁ Ἀφρικανός in Greek), was Pope from 2 July 311 to 10 January 314.[1] He is possibly of Berber North African origin.
Berbers (Berber: ⵉⵎⴰⵣⵉⵖⴻⵏImazighen/Imaziɣen) are the indigenous ethnic group of North Africa, west of the Nile Valley. They are continuously distributed from the Atlantic to the Siwa oasis, in Egypt, and from the Mediterranean to the Niger River. Historically they spoke the Berber language and local varieties of it, which together form the "Berber branch" of the Afro-Asiatic language family.
Afroasiatic (Afro-Asiatic), also known as Hamito-Semitic(Chamito-Semitic),[1] is a large language family, including 300 or so living languages.[3]
Afroasiatic languages are spoken predominantly in the Middle East,North Africa, the Horn of Africa, and parts of the Sahel. More than 300 million people speak an Afroasiatic language.[1]
BLACKS in CATHOLIC HISTORY “MOMENTS”

Introduction for this series:
Some people have criticized Christianity as a “white man’s religion and put down the Roman Catholic Church as a “white” church. These myths and misconceptions are NOT TRUE. In fact, Blacks in Catholic Christianity have a long and vibrant history that we’ll be exploring this month (November) with a daily “Blacks-in-Catholic-History Moment” You may use this in your bulletin, or as a study guide for your Black Catholic History month activities. (All information was compiled from websites of the Archdioceses of Washington, Baltimore, Chicago & Newark, the Diocese of Raleigh, the Newsletter of NBCC and the books: African Saints by Frederick Quinn, The Saints Go Marching In by Robert Fulton Holtzclaw, and Blacks Who Died for Jesus by Mark Hyman; The
Anacostia Story: 1608-1930 by Louise Daniel Hutchinson )

Did you know…?
…that among the 265 popes of the Catholic Church, between St. Peter and the current pope Benedict the 16th, are three popes known to be of African descent? St. Victor the First was a deacon when he became the first black and the 14th pope in 189 A.D. He established a set date for the yearly celebration of Easter. St. Victor died a martyr for the faith in 199. St. Melchiades (mel-KY-uh-des) reigned as the Church’s second black and 32nd pope, from 311 to 314. He signed the Emperor Constantine’s laws that ended persecutions and made Christianity the established religion of the Roman Empire. St. Gelasius the First, was the Church’s third black and 49th pope from 492 to 496. He was known then for saving Rome from famine, composing a book of hymns, and clarifying Church teaching on the Eucharist.

Did you know…?
…that the only saint, of African origin, in the Western Hemisphere to date, is St. Martin de Porres of Lima, Peru? Born in 1579, as the unwanted son of a Spanish knight and a freed African slave woman. St. Martin showed signs of the virtues of modesty, humility and charity for the poor, early in his life. As a Dominican Brother, St. Martin founded an orphanage and a hospital. He also ministered to hundreds of unhappy people from Africa, who were forced into slavery in the new western world. St. Martin is recognized in the Church as both the Patron saint of Peru and of the poor. His feast day is celebrated today.

Lastly, we've got real work to do, are you willing to help Zim?

Peace In,

Who cares what they do or do not.

Is their ice colder than ours?

I bet none of them would base their reputation on a public debate regarding the identity of those popes.

"Roman"Afrika? What is that?

Don't get caught up in their word games.

No it isn't but they do control the main media outlets and therefore majority public opinion. I know there were and always have been Black people in that part of Africa but they aren't going to admit it. I'm just stating that the main media outlets will continue to report it in this way. Roman Africa is the part of Africa that was under Roman control. I'm not caught up. The only reason I posted the article about the new pop potentially being Black was the mention of a 'betrayer'. A Black betraying Pope. Just wondered what people would say about that.

Now that pope Benedict has chosen to abdicate, according to legend, the next pope will be called the betrayer

..
You are too anxious for all that stuff to happen in your generation lol.

The stuff that's happened so far has been predicted but it's spaced out across several decades.
