I would like to seriously see us begin relearning the Mother tongues that were taken from us. Our voices were literally silenced in many ways. I'm going to try to gather as much information as I can and compile it in a series of threads called "Taking Back the Tongue"--each devoted to a specific African/African diasporal language or dialect. It will be videos, audios, text, and whatever I can find. Since some media is prone to be removed, it would probably be best to download it if possible. Unfortunately, I have no way to validate the quality of all of what will be posted; it's best to try to cross-check with other human or material resources you can access. If you are a native speaker of any of the languages, please chime in with any relevant information. Thank you! Here is the first few videos I found on Xhosa, a language from southern Africa: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZ6oe2U7AOA&feature=channel_video_title http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31zzMb3U0iY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SepX94m3XBQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiwzkZVpYvs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ch8f2Jk2jgk.
