As'e to the queen of soul. Can't tell you how many times i left Sylvia's asking her to marry me after eating some of her smothered chicken, mac/cheese and yams..... People would come on chartered buses from all over, with hopes of getting a table and a glimpse of the queen of soul. Not to mention all of the other sould food restaraunt's that she inspired that tried to compete with her that just couldn't keep up with what she was doing. When we were younger, to impress a female's, we would either take them to City Island, or Sylvia's and they would run back to their friends bragging about where we took them out to eat. She will be missed.......
Yes, she was a staple and an icon in Harlem and renown around the world. My prayers to her family and friends.
