I'm not sure I get the purpose of the thread but here's my minor contribution based on what you wrote. Are you saying that, after reading his memoirs, you're satisfied that R. Kelly is "innocent" of the charges made against him about the "infamous" video where it was alleged he was having sex and administering drugs to a minor? Or, are you saying that, after reading his memoirs, you're satisfied that R. Kelly is INNOCENT and not a pedophile, which, technically, he would be if he has had relationship(s) with any person who was not of legal age as defined by the U.S. judicial system? I don't know R. Kelly personally, so I can only go by what I read about him in the news media. And, I've read a number of different articles written about him over the years over similar issues. I don't care to purchase his memoirs and read his version of the story because even though he claims his innocence that particular time, I question whether he is really innocent or just lucky that the prosecution wasn't able to prove his guilt. Aaliyah. I'm not trying to "judge" him and neither is this about his music. In this case, you have to separate the musician from the man. I, for one, am not confused about that.

I'm just tired of people bringing it up every time a topic about R. Kelly surfaces. Let it go. What's done is done. And I have 0 tolerance for hypocrites who downloaded that video when it first surfaced but still yet; find no contradiction in trying to condemn a man for an act they supposedly were disgusted with. Too many have similar stories. Plus, lest we wish to forget, he all but confessed about his "weakness" when he sought spiritual help, several years ago. He cant deny the wife beater charges ..

R. Kelly was molested by a 18 year old young woman when he was only 8. It's one of the reason why his music has been so sexually charged. He was hypersexualized at such a young age; he didn't really have time to process what was happening to his body. And gathering from what I read in his book, he was exactly being taught about sex: what is, and isn't appropriate either. I hope he's seeking the help of a psychiatrist. There is a tie-in here. The age of consent in Illinois however is 17.
