Reviewing the Lessons
Thanks HipHop and Blackbird for ya'll enlightenment. I was reviewing the Metu Neter vol. one to see if anything was in there concerning these experiences and low and behold in ch. 23 "Underlying Principles of the Practice of Meditation and Rituals"
According to Ra Un Nefer Amen, there are two prime states of consciousness one that is extroverted (aware of the external environment), the other being introverted (detached from the environment). Within these two states (modes) of consciousness there are 3 modalities of each, totaling 6 modalities of consciousness.
Relevant to this discussion of trance, Shekhem Ur Shekhem points out that there are 3 states of trance, 2 types being waking transe and the other being a mediumistic. In the case of waking trance, consciousness is introverted. The difference between the 2 is the condition/activity of the will. In the one type of waking trance the will is focus and is awake-active(mentally active). In the other the will is focused also, but is awake-relaxed (mentally passive). It is in this second state that "the life-force is free to throw up all associated thoughts, and spiritual agencies - deities, ancestors, ect. - are able to enlighten the meditator" RUNA says it is here that we are "dreaming, yet awake" therefor we are "able to clearly remember everything that transpired" (p. 383)
Mediumistic trance is when we are extroverted "thus communicating with the environment and the body, but our will is in a passive state" (p. 384). this is were our bodies are controlled by the subconscious/ life force or the will of another entity.
Good Looking on the wisdom Blackbird and sharing that experience.
